About ILR Settlement Calculator
An independent tool to help UK immigration applicants calculate their ILR qualifying date and spouse visa financial requirements.
Our Purpose
The ILR Settlement Calculator exists to make UK immigration planning more transparent. Navigating the rules around Indefinite Leave to Remain and spouse visa financial requirements can be confusing, and small mistakes — like applying too early or misunderstanding the qualifying period — can cost time and money. We built free, easy-to-use calculators that pull current rules directly from gov.uk so applicants can check their position with confidence.
Independent and Not Government-Affiliated
This is an independent tool. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the UK government, the Home Office, UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), or any government body. All rule data is sourced from publicly available gov.uk pages and corroborating sources, but this site is not a government service. For official guidance, always consult the gov.uk website.
How We Source Rule Data
Every rule, fee, and threshold displayed on this site is stored in a structured database and rendered into pages at build time. This means the numbers you see are never hardcoded into the website's code — they are pulled from a central data source that can be updated without redeploying the site.
Database-Backed Rules
All rule values (fees, qualifying periods, thresholds) are stored in a structured database with their source URL, effective date, and verification status.
Scheduled Freshness Checks
An automated process checks current values against gov.uk on a schedule. When a change is detected, the database is updated and a log entry is created — no redeploy required.
Verification Standards
Every rule value on this site is checked against its gov.uk source before publication. Once verified, it displays a green "Verified" badge with the date it was last checked. Values that have not yet been confirmed are never shown to users — a calculator stays locked until its underlying figure is verified. We will never silently treat an unverified value as confirmed.
The 5-Year vs 10-Year Question
The most important fact on this site is that the current ILR qualifying period is 5 years (for most routes). A proposed "earned settlement" model requiring 10 years was consulted on but has not become law. We display this distinction prominently on every relevant page because getting it backwards would actively harm users relying on the tool for planning.
Not Immigration Advice
This tool provides information and calculations to help you understand your position. It does not constitute immigration advice. Immigration rules are complex and individual circumstances vary. For advice specific to your situation, consult a regulated immigration adviser (look for OISC registration or a solicitor regulated by the SRA).
